The Michigan Sport Business Conference breaks barriers annually by hosting speakers who share news on hot topics in the sport industry. Last year’s MSBC was no exception, offering an impressive list of speakers that shared their thoughts on a diverse range of topics.
The afternoon panel, “From Athlete to Influencer: An Inside Look at the Jordan Brand”, featured Estee Portnoy, senior vice president of marketing an
d client services for Jump.DC, and Jordan Brand President Larry Miller.
Portnoy and Miller offered rich insight into Jordan Brand’s growth over time, its history with Michigan Athletics and its trajectory moving forward. When asked about the future of Jordan Brand in intercollegiate athletics, Miller predicted that the next football program to wear the Jumpman would be North Carolina, Jordan’s alma mater.

On March 4, exactly four months to the day from the MSBC, North Carolina was announced as the second Jordan Brand football program. Yet again, the MSBC has proven itself to be a student-oriented platform which allows for transparent exchanges between the speakers and their audience. The MSBC pushes the boundaries of sport business by offering ground-breaking content about trends in sports before they become public information.
