About Brandon Koretz

Prior to stepping into the role of Co-President, Brandon spent his previous two years on the MSBC team building up the organization’s digital media assets as a part of the marketing division. This past summer, Brandon was an intern at Twitter where he worked on the company’s Global Content Partnerships team in the sports division. In this role, he contributed to Twitter’s relationship with the world’s top media companies while also focusing on high-profile leagues, networks, teams, athletes, emerging publishers and major events like the FIFA World Cup, NBA Finals, NFL Kickoff and more. Brandon is also a member of the fraternity Alpha Epsilon Pi.

In the summer of 2017, Brandon was an intern with FOX Sports at Big Ten Network in downtown Chicago. With BTN, he worked on various projects for Big Ten Football Media Days, the 2018 Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament at Madison Square Garden and the network’s weekly football pregame show BTN Tailgate. For the three summers prior, Brandon spent his time as a counselor at Camp Kawaga, an overnight summer camp where he attended for most of his childhood. Brandon previously worked as a student intern for the University of Michigan’s athletic department in the media relations and communications office. In that role, he worked with major television networks, created and supported online content for MGoBlue.com and assisted in game day operations for Michigan sports teams. Brandon plans to use his academic background and industry experience to start a career in the business of sports media, specifically working with broadcasting rights and programming, live digital streaming, video distribution and content partnerships.

About Lindsey LaForest

Prior to stepping into the role of Co-President, Lindsey spent her previous two years on the MSBC team serving as Vice President of Team Relations where she focused on team culture, communication, and recruiting. Beyond MSBC, Lindsey is the President and Co-Founder of Michigan Women Empowerment in Sport and Entertainment, and a member of the Steering Committee for the Sport Business Association. Also, she currently serves as the Sport Management Peer Advisor for the School of Kinesiology Career Center. She also is serving as a research assistant focusing on sports, athletes, and activism for the University of Michigan Sport Management Program.

This summer, Lindsey served as a Talent and Consulting Intern at the Montag Group. Previously, Lindsey served as a Marketing and Communications Intern for StadiumBee, a technology start-up in the sports realm. She also spent a semester as a research assistant for a Title IX project in the Department of Sociology at the University of Michigan. This past summer, Lindsey studied abroad in Barcelona, Spain where she practiced her Spanish and completed art courses in May and June. She spent the rest of summer preparing for the LSAT with the intent of applying to law school after graduating in 2019. In her free time, Lindsey enjoys traveling, trying new foods, playing sports, and studying Spanish.

  • About Molly Pitzele

    Position: Chief Operating Officer

    Molly is looking forward to her second year on the MSBC team as Chief Operating Officer. This past summer, Molly worked at Minnesota United FC as an Inside Sales Representative. In this role, Molly developed a plethora of sales skills including cold-calling, self-prospecting and proficiency in CRM. Additionally, Molly sold the most tickets for the team’s open scrimmage that went towards the club’s #50kToMidway initiative. On campus, Molly is a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma, where she sits on the Standards Committee.

    Position: Vice President of Marketing

    This summer, Alison is interning at Wasserman Media Group in growth and development. The past two summers, Alison worked on the promotions and special events team for the Colorado Rockies. In this position, she managed give aways and kiosks, selected contestants for Jumbotron promotions, escorted the mascot, and hosted the pre-game participants. In addition, Alison interned at the inaugural year of Colorado Classic/Velorama (a bike race/music festival). In this role, Alison assisted with operations and sponsorship departments. 

    Last year, Alison served as the BIG Initiative and Non-Michigan Marketing Manager. On campus, Alison is a member of The TAMID Group, Chi Omega Fraternity, and WCLL Division 1 Michigan Lacrosse Team. 

  • About Amanda Wilpon

    Position: Vice President of Partnerships

    Amanda has had the opportunity to work for individuals within different industries. Starting over the summers she worked for Mathew Hiltzik in his strategic communications and consulting firm – Hiltzik Strategies, Metropolitain Hospitality in event planning, and assisted the senior project advisor for Sterling Project Developments. On campus, she is one of the managers for Michigan’s D1 Baseball Team, and a member of Sigma Delta Tau sorority. For the 6th annual conference Amanda served as the Alumni/Industry Professional Marketing Manager on the Industry Relations team. She focused on ways of enhancing the speakers conference experience, as well as cultivating relationships in the sport industry to achieve a top notch speaker lineup.  This year, Amanda has been promoted to Vice President of Partnerships where she will utilize her strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with potential partners, and sell the MSBC brand to reach new levels of success that have yet to be achieved in previous years. She is excited to bring her knowledge in the industry, past experiences, and creativity to this years conference.

    In addition to her involvement with MSBC, Melanie is currently a member of Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Business Fraternity, the Sport Business Association, and is a Communications and Public Relations Student Assistant for the Michigan Athletic Department. Previously, she has worked as a marketing intern for Reitmans Ltd. and as an experiential marketing summer analyst for the National Bank of Canada. In her free time, Melanie enjoys trying new restaurants and cheering on the Montreal Canadiens.

    Position: Vice President of Team Relations

    Now in her second year on the MSBC team, Emily is proud to serve as the Vice President of Team Relations. For MSBC 2017, she gained experience in content creation as the Writer and Content Producer. Elsewhere on campus, Emily is a Teaching and Research Assistant for Sport Management faculty, an active member of the Sport Business Association, and a chair of her sorority’s new member team. Emily spent this past summer as the Entertainment Intern for the Miami Dolphins. While in Ann Arbor, she is an intern with Michigan Athletics’ Leadership Development Team and a Marketing Operations Intern with USA Hockey. In her free time, Emily enjoys playing hockey, spinning, and studying Swedish.

    Experience: Rebecca’s work experience consists of a summer internship at the North American Marketing department at Oracle in NYC, as well as director of business development at CliquePic, a photo sharing app she helped create. On campus Rebecca is a proud member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and serves on the house management committee. Rebecca began her experience with the MSBC on the Event Planning team, creating and maintaining vendor relationships as well as planning the day of logistics of the 2016 conference. This past year, Rebecca served as the Chief Operating Officer and was tasked with creating a unique business strategy to drive the success of the 6th annual MSBC.

  • About Allison Abrutyn

    Position: Conference Experience Manager

    With a strong interest and passion for sports since she was little, Allison is extremely excited about being part of planning her first MSBC as a Conference Experience Manager. She has previous experience in the sports business world as she was an intern for a talent representation agency, The Montag Group, based in New York. She was tasked with researching professional athletes for potential representation by the agency and brands to endorse newly represented as well as athletes already represented by the company. On campus, Allison is a proud member of a sorority, Sigma Delta Tau, where she was the previous Public Relations Chair. Allison is also involved in Go Blue Wear Pink, a fundraising based club that raises money for breast cancer where she held the position as Sales Chair.  For the past two summers Allison has worked at Rye Brook Day Camp, a local day camp, as a Head Counselor. She is excited to take her experience in multiple fields of sports and business and bring them to planning the best MSBC yet. Currently, Allison is a Global Marketing Intern at Coty.

    This summer, Anthony is interning at General Motors as an OnStar Sales and Marketing Strategist for Spanish and French consumers. Anthony has work experience as the Customer Success Associate at the startup, ThankView LLC in New York City, Administrative Assistant Intern at Bedrock Real Estate in Downtown Detroit two summers ago, and in previous years, he was a camp counselor in Ontario. On campus, Anthony currently serves as member on the Executive Board of the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity and is the head of Student Ambassadors of a subleasing startup company, University Sublet. In Anthony’s free time he enjoys expanding upon his foreign language fluency and traveling the world.

    This past summer, Brady worked at Xenith, an industry leader in football helmet technology, as a Special Projects intern, with an emphasis on brand strategy and market research. Previously, he worked for the Applied Analytics team at Legendary Entertainment, utilizing data analytics to help make strategic marketing decisions for the company and its clients. He is studying business at the Ross School of Business, and is hoping to supplement his BBA degree with experience in the sport business industry. His academic interests include marketing, statistics, data science, and more. On campus, in addition to MSBC, Brady is a proud member of Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity.

    Looking to pursue a career in the sport industry, Connor is excited to contribute to the most incredible MSBC to date. Formerly, Connor has worked as a Marketing, Promotions, and Public Relations intern for the United Shore Professional Baseball League in Utica, MI. He serves as the Director of Talent Acquisition for the Michigan Sport Consulting Club. In his free time, Connor is passionate about mentoring students at Angell Elementary School in Ann Arbor and volunteering with the Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity. Currently, he is a Golf Operations Intern at Radrick Farms Golf Course.

    Position: Account Manager

    Connor spent this past summer interning with AST Financial on their sales team in New York City, where he worked on new client outreach for the company’s transfer agent, IPO, and equity plan administration services. Prior to that, he interned with MKM Partners in Stamford, Connecticut as an equity research intern specifically focused on Semiconductor companies in Eastern Asia. Here on campus, Connor is a member of the club Kid’s Without Cancer, which is focused on raising funds for pediatric cancer research at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit, and is a member of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity.

  • About Dorothy Goldstein-Stahl

    Position: Industry Professional and Alumni Marketing Manager

    Dorothy had the incredible opportunity to work with the Corporate Partnerships team at Palace Sports & Entertainment last summer creating pitch decks and recaps, as well as helping to renew partnerships for the Pistons as they made their move to Little Caesars Arena. Prior to working at PS&E, Dorothy spent two summers as a counselor at Camp Tamakwa in Ontario, Canada. In addition to pursuing a career in Sport Management, Dorothy is also minoring in Political Science in the hopes of one day working in sports law. In addition to being a member of the Industry Relations team with MSBC, Dorothy is also a member of the Sport Business Association’s event planning committee and is a member of Sigma Delta Tau sorority. This is Dorothy’s first year on the team, and she is looking forward to contributing all she can to the success of the Michigan Sports Business Conference in years to come.

    Jack brings a wealth of experience to his role on the MSBC team. This summer he is working as an intern at Community Power Partners. This past summer he worked as a freelance video producer, filming and editing promotional videos for local summer camps. As a writer he has displayed his expertise in the New York Times, where his work has been published. On campus Jack also serves as President of Victors Value Investments, which he co-founded, and as an Associate Editor on the Michigan Journal of Business. In his free time, Jack enjoys playing hockey, chess, and learning more about the sports business industry.

    Jacob has begun gaining valuable experience in the marketing and sales space.  This past summer, he interned for DraftKings.com on their Digital Partnerships and Acquisition team where he worked on developing new and innovative ways to market their product.  On campus, he is a member of the Sport Business Association and on the Mental Health and Academic committees of his fraternity, Delta Upsilon.  Jacob is interning at Relevent Sports this summer to gain insight into the Soccer industry.

    Along with MSBC, Jason is a manager for the Men’s Basketball Team here at the University of Michigan. In high school, along with playing four years of varsity tennis and three years of varsity basketball, he was chosen to be a member of the Student Athletic Council. During the summer between his junior and senior year of high school, Jason served as an intern with the Chicago Cubs in their marketing department, which further embedded in him his love for sport business. He looks forward to interning in the sport business world once again during the upcoming summer.

    Jared looks forward to contribute and add value during his first year on the MSBC student planning team. Previously, Jared has served as a Sales/Marketing and Revenue Operations intern at Conductor, a leading search engine optimization company and the 38th fastest growing company in America, according to Inc. magazine. In addition, Jared is a former participant of the Wharton Sports Business Academy (WSBA) at the University of Pennsylvania, a program dedicated to learning about business in the context of sports, both in and out of the classroom. On campus, Jared is an active member of Maize & Blue Games, MUSIC Matters, and looking to get involved as much as possible during his time at Michigan.

    Josh is currently in the Sports Business Association and holds an Executive Board position in the Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity.  Last Summer, he worked for Sports Professional Management, a professional hockey agency in the New York area and this upcoming Summer will be working at Bedrock in Detroit. In his free time, he enjoys watching and attending sporting events, and learning more about the sport industry through the reading of journals and other sport-related resources.

    Position: Speakers Logistics Manager

    Mason spent the Summer of 2017 interning for the Tulsa Sports Commission in a Research and Development role, coordinating and working on a variety of projects and events that were focused on the economic development of the city. He is interested in urban development and marketing as they are related to the sports industry, and hopes to intern in one of these areas during the upcoming summer. Outside of class, he is involved in the Sport Business Association, Michigan Sport Consulting Club, and Unicef. He also serves as the Chair of Philanthropy for the Phi Epsilon Kappa Professional Kinesiology Fraternity.

On campus, Mikey is a member of the Sport Business Association, and recently started writing for the Michigan Daily sports section. In his free time, Mikey loves exploring NYC as well as playing golf on the weekends.

    A current sophomore and new member of the team, Molly is excited to contribute to the success of the MSBC as the creative and graphics manager.  Molly spent this past summer as an Intern for the Unified Media Marketing Group where she completed various graphic design projects.  On campus, Molly serves as the Ritual Chairman for Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and is a member of the Michigan Club Tennis Team.  In her spare time, Molly enjoys travelling and spending time with her family.

    Nathan has previous professional experiences working for Novartis Pharmaceuticals, Kelloggs, and Northrop Grumman. Beyond his corporate experiences, Nathan is the Business Manager for The Michigan Daily and is working as a software engineer at Microsoft during Summer 2018. He is passionate about using technology and data to solve problems and bring people together.

    Position: Logistics and Event Communications Manager

    In Nick’s professional experience, he has spent his time working as a lead data analyst at Atlantis Technology in Concord, MA. Nick plans on returning there this summer before completing his time at Michigan. In his free time, Nick created a model to project free agent salaries in the MLB and also watch Boston sports tear up their respective leagues.

    Noah’s previous professional experience includes interning for the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce and Peerless Clothing International. Through these opportunities, he has had the experience of overlooking stock portfolios and monitoring and managing bulk production for multiple international factories. His academic interests include business, statistics, computer science, and mathematics. On Campus, in addition to MSBC, Noah proudly serves on the executive board of Maize and Blue Games and Slam Analytics while also being passionately involved with Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity and Michigan FinTech.

    Position: Non-Michigan Marketing Manager

    Owen is excited to contribute to MSBC. This summer, he will be a Strategic Partnership intern with IPG360. Previously, Owen worked for the startup company Real Time Cases, from which he has acquired practical experience in marketing and management and he used to write a weekly column for isportsweb.com covering his hometown Clippers and UCLA. Owen is also passionate about sports’ off-the-field impact. He has worked extensively with the Special Olympics and volunteered with the Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles. Owen enjoys debating sports and politics and aspires to travel the world.
