ANN ARBOR, Mich. September 14, 2016 — After speaking at our inaugural event in 2012, the Michigan Sport Business Conference (MSBC) is proud to announce that Stephen M. Ross, Chairman and Founder of Related Companies and Owner of the Miami Dolphins, will speak at our 5th annual conference.
Inviting Mr. Ross to the 2016 MSBC was a natural fit. In addition to being a graduate of the University of Michigan and the namesake of the Ross School of Business, Mr. Ross is known as a leader in the industry. His vast knowledge of sport and consumerism can strengthen individual’s knowledge surrounding our conference theme: The Empowered Consumer. As owner of the NFL’s Miami Dolphins, Mr. Ross can provide insights about the fan experience and how consumer trends influence and dictate the operations of a professional sports team, bringing a unique perspective to this year’s event.
Currently, Hard Rock Stadium, which Mr. Ross owns through his real estate assets within Related Companies, is undergoing a $350 million renovation process. To what extent are these renovations focused on improving the consumer experience? Are there any new types of technology being utilized that will increase attendee retention? These are the types of questions we hope to answer by speaking with Mr. Ross and gaining an understanding of an owner’s perspective. Furthermore, we want to explore the role consumers have in impacting a team’s ticket sales, uniforms, sponsorship, and partnerships. Ross offers the perfect solution to engaging our widening curiosity.
Stephen M. Ross is consistently on the forefront of the sport industry and his lasting impact and ahead-of-the-curve thinking makes him an ideal keynote speaker at the 5th annual MSBC. Mr. Ross’s work at the professional sports level, his contributions across a multitude of platforms, and his continued appreciation and dedication to the University of Michigan matches the forward-thinking goals for which the MSBC stands for. We are eager to learn from him when he joins us on November 4th.
