Central Student Government

“The Central Student Government is the primary student government organization at the University of Michigan. There are over 100 students who serve in some capacity within the CSG.

The Central Student Government was originally established in 1906 as the Student Council, just two years after the organization of the Michigan Union. It was at this time that students recognized the need for self-governance. Over the more than century thereafter, it has been known by various other names including the Student Legislature, Student Senate, Student Government Council, and most recently, the Michigan Student Assembly. The organization changed its name to the Central Student Government as of January 1, 2012.”
