What is the BIG Initiative?

The Michigan Sport Business Conference’s BIG Initiative annually recognizes 10 outstanding undergraduate student leaders who have accomplished an exceptional level of success in the field of Sport Business. Launched in 2013, the award was conceived to acknowledge the incredible achievements of those poised to become the sports industry’s next generation.

What do BIG winners receive?

  • The title of BIG Initiative Winner, prestigiously recognized as a pioneering undergraduate student who is poised to become a leader in the field of sport business

  • Free admission to the Michigan Sport Business Conference on Oct. 19, 2018

  • Acknowledgement of winners’ distinguished status and personal achievements on-stage at the conference in front of the sport business industry’s top professionals

  • Invitation to the exclusive MSBC Networking Luncheon at the conference on Oct. 19, 2018, where BIG winners will have the opportunity to intimately network with successful sport business professionals

  • Invitation to the exclusive MSBC Thursday Night Dinner the evening before the conference on Oct. 18, 2018, where BIG winners will have the opportunity to intimately listen to and engage with the industry’s most successful sport business professionals

Information Regarding All Applications:

  • The MSBC’s BIG Initiative will accept applications until Sunday, Sept. 2, 2018, at noon ET.

  • The MSBC’s BIG Initiative selection committee will determine the 10 BIG Initiative honorees based on a number of criteria including, but not limited to, uniqueness and exceptionality, measurable accomplishments, creativity, innovation and leadership

  • The BIG Initiative honorees must be able to attend the conference on Oct. 19, 2018, as they will be honored on-stage during the conference

  • One BIG Initiative winner will be picked as the ‘valedictorian’ of the BIG Initiative Class of 2018, and he or she will receive a special announcement at the conference
