The BIG Initiative

Launched in 2013, the Michigan Sport Business Conference BIG Initiative annually recognizes outstanding student leaders who have achieved an exceptional level of success. Each year, the MSBC attracts top applicants all across North America. Those receiving the honor are selected on the basis of demonstrated entrepreneurship, creativity, innovation and leadership. Nominees must be students with a passion for the sport industry that demonstrate a truly remarkable curriculum vitae.

The application for the fifth class of the BIG Initiative is now officially open and all upper-class undergraduates outside the University of Michigan are encouraged to apply. Ten students will be honored with a special ceremony at this year’s Michigan Sport Business Conference on Oct. 6, at the University of Michigan’s Stephen M. Ross School of Business. Each award winner will exemplify what it means to Build, Inspire and Grow.

The MSBC BIG Initiative was conceived as an award not only to recognize the outstanding achievements of student leaders, but also to shed light on those that will shape the sports industry during their careers. Founded and envisioned by Chris Chaney and Brandon Rhodes, the BIG Initiative provides a glimpse into the future of the sports business.
