Each week the MSBC will conduct a Q&A with two current planning committee members to provide some background on the people working hard to make the 2014 conference a success. This week Sophomore Alyssa Duguay shares her experience of being on the 2014 MSBC team.
MSBC: Explain your role in the MSBC team and what you are currently doing in preparation for the 2014 MSBC conference.
Duguay: As the VP of Team Relations I help generate strategies to grow the MSBC brand beyond the scope of just Michigan students. I work to provide team cohesion and satisfy member expectations with individual evaluations. I help monitor each team’s progress moving forward towards the conference and address areas of concern for each group. The planning process can be hectic and high-stress; I look for ways to reduce that added stress on students and make it a more enjoyable experience. To achieve this, I help to plan events outside of the organization that would be fun for everyone.
MSBC: What do you like the most about the 2014 planning committee?
Duguay: What I enjoy most about the committee is how well everyone meshes together. There are so many talented students and listening to their ideas, suggestions, and areas of interest make me excited for the future of MSBC. I think the possibilities are endless for this organization, and we have a group that is passionate about making the conference an amazing experience for everyone.
MSBC: What has been the most rewarding part of your role in the 2014 MSBC experience?
Duguay: The most rewarding part has been the positive feedback I have received already. Hearing members say they are enjoying what they are doing is truly a rewarding feeling. In addition, I enjoy seeing all of the students actively participate in discussions. It is great for the group as a whole to also be a team.
MSBC: Who was your favorite speaker at the 2013 MSBC conference?
Duguay: John Skipper
MSBC: What are your professional aspirations upon graduating from the University of Michigan?
Duguay: I hope to work for a sports agency (IMG, MSG, NBA) as their Chief Marketing Officer.
