5 Questions with MSBC VP of Event Planning Jenna Beaugrand

Jenna Beaugrand

Each week the MSBC will conduct a Q&A with two current planning committee members to provide some background on the people working hard to make the 2014 conference a success. This week Sophomore Jenna Beaugrand shares her experience of being on the 2014 MSBC team.

MSBC: Explain your role in the MSBC team and what you are currently doing in preparation for the MSBC 2014 conference.

Beaugrand: As Vice President of Event Planning, I oversee a team of four people to coordinate the operations of the entire conference weekend. We plan everything including the minute-by-minute schedule of the conference day, catering, Thursday night dinner, and all of the logistics behind that weekend. We are currently planning the Thursday night dinner and getting quotes for necessary signage and items needed for the day of the conference.

MSBC: How would you describe the 2014 Executive Board?

Beaugrand: The executive board is a fun and extremely motivated group of students trying to make an impact while we are all here at Michigan. Everyone is excited and passionate about the conference. I am inspired by each person’s individual creativity and drive to succeed for the conference and beyond college.

MSBC: What are some of the challenges you have faced in your role and how have you solved them?

Beaugrand: One of the challenges my division is facing right now is planning so far in advance for the conference day logistics when we haven’t secured things like speakers yet. To solve this, my team has had excellent communication with other divisions and we have created rough outlines for the event to be prepared in the fall.

MSBC: Who is a speaker you would like to see at the MSBC 2014 conference?

Beaugrand: I would love to see a former commissioner like David Stern or an entrepreneur figure like Mark Cuban.

MSBC: What are your professional aspirations upon graduating from the University of Michigan?

Beaugrand: After I graduate, I would like to work in marketing or possibly do urban development work. However, I am still looking at my options! Eventually I would like to be a top executive at a Forbes 500 company and possibly end up back in sports.
